Misc

  • 🎧 The Bombo Podcast is worth listening to for french speaking audience and deserves that I speak about it!
  • πŸ•ΉοΈ Binge watching game recordings of Cossacks 3 by Sergiu (@SergiuHellDragoonHQ on YT/Steam)
  • πŸ’»οΈ I removed my Mastodon account and I've renamed a few old ones. My old domain and identity websites should soon disappear from the web.
  • 🎧️ I'm hesitant to delete my Spotify profile, because it would just be so faster than deleting my unliked songs one by one. But I'm anyway on a crusade to cleanup my liked songs and I'm going went from 2K+ to something in the hundreds probably soon, at a pace of probably 100 songs fewer every day. Today I'm at 115 songs. Waw
  • 🏠️ We consider moving to another place in mid term. Especially as our neighbors make our living place everything but quiet. Not only I never work in our place but also it's sometimes difficult to find sleep because of the situation. Now I'm suspicious also my mind resists the effort to move and sabotage me.
  • πŸ‘š I've ordered a t-shirt that displays the cover of my favorite album of my favorite Metal band : Death Angel - Killing Season. I couldn't find it anywhere in EU so I had to order from US, gasp and it's currently stuck in local customs for 2 weeks yet and it seems normal...
  • πŸ“” I've looked into my previous paper journal entries and online TODOs/Project ideas and I've noticed some recurring thoughts and also recurring project ideas, that I'm willing to try converting to real things. I'm also because of this considering a move to another format for journaling and bookmarking/note taking because having it in one place/one tool would ease my workflows..

πŸ’Ό Work

  • Freelancer and co-owner of Zoemp SRL with my partner.
  • DevOps / SRE at Ibanity In Brussels, Belgium.
  • πŸ€“ I'm back from Kubecon in Paris and there I feel there was too much hype about AI and the rooms and floors were too crowded for me, other than that I'm happy with this escape from my home routine and I had a few great times.
  • I've recently celebrated my 6 months (in new job) birthday at the office and that was great.
  • Despite my colleagues work from home 4/5 days, I continue to go to the office, it's a preference, I've already covered that in the past. Anyway my partner asked what if I could set a nice home office, my main concern is probably 1) that costs money ! 2) I don't want something that makes my back suffer. 3) I will stop here and would probably write a blog post soon about the other points πŸ˜†...

πŸ’ Quotes

This one should resonate with wanna-be entrepreneurs who need a little kick to move forward

A ship in port is safe, but that's not what ships are built for. Grace Hopper

🩺 Health and Sport and Well being

  • πŸ§—πŸ»I've stopped climbing since June 2023, after I broke my leg. For reasons (anxiety, laziness, habits) I struggle to go back. Since April 2024 I'm climbing again, so I'll try to schedule regular sessions with my colleague and friend Vincent.
  • 🚢🏻I walk and relax and chill rather than running.
  • 🀫 I like to isolate myself from external noise and energy draining environments and people, I need time, quiet, calm and simple things. Γ”, rather, I need a fewer things. I like to remove, destroy, throw away things that do not cause me stress to have them.
  • Paperwork/administrative work drains my energy. Instead I like to eliminate, minify, simplify. But there is so much paperwork beyond what I can manage it's something I struggle still with as freelancer.
  • I would love that people in conference get to know the public bathroom etiquette for toilet urinals. In fact I think anyone who invented urinals committed a mistake.
  • I wish there were noise cancelling earplugs in conferences/events. And better food, and better coffee, and more quiet space, and fewer waiting queues.

Projects

  • πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» I'm coding a little game using Pygame and ChatGPT as an experimental helper requiring too much micromanagement yet it's teaching me about prompting skills.
  • πŸ•ΉοΈ I was gifted an old Raspberry V2 by my colleague Jens (thanks to him!) and I'm considering many projects with that, maybe a PiHole, RetroPie, whatever I can build with is already good for learning. I'm also linking Christian Haschek's posts for other ideas.
  • 🎨 I start drawing again and I might join an academy for regularity and education. But in the meantime I might already be tempted to share some of my art, especially to illustrate my blog posts.
  • πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ I'm using https://github.com/realies/soulseek-docker to move away from Spotify and reclaim ownership of my music as I used to do years ago.
  • 🧰 I'm thinking of rewriting this blog with https://www.11ty.dev/ but I also hate the mental load linked to have to learn and use Static Site Generators as I'm used to tools that stop working after a while.
  • πŸ’ΏοΈ I've a huge collection of CDs that I didn't hear in a long time and I'm looking for an affordable quality portable CD player so both I and my little one can enjoy my whole music library. Update March 2024: I've asked my step brother for quality CD players references as he's sound engineer and quite eclectic.
  • 🧸 My little one is currently into Lego and... me too ! Yet I've tried to make him play board games but it's not easy and way too early.
  • 🎸 My little one has a small guitar at home that I enjoy playing with but it's rather a toy go out of tune all the time. My step brother also has lot of music instruments I enjoy playing like piano, harp, electric guitar. I'm gonna look for playing a guitar, probably ordering online from Thomann as advised by work colleague.
