Misc

  • Lego was really part of my life and is back with my little one. For now are collecting the D&D Minifigures.
  • I'm taking a break with some of my daily news subscriptions: Stuut, Revue Silence, Marianne, Mediapart, @Westenberg Tech + Politics + Humans, MrMondialisation, Next, Framablog - Khrys’presso, Bon Pote, etc. reason being this was a lot of negative karma on a daily basis, way too much for me, and despite all the filters I had set up on Miniflux, I was still feeling overwhelmed due to all of this.
  • 🫢 I documented my /guilty pleasures. Maybe that could be a community thing like /ideas, /now, /uses.

  • 🍿 Special day at the movie theater with my kiddo. We have watched Garfield. It was not incredible but the experience of enjoying his first movie theater together is priceless ❤️.
  • 🎂🎈🎁 I'm 38 ! My birthday was Aug 30. I didn't party or celebrate it, sadly.
  • 🤡🎪🤹💽🪇 For the third year in a row I'm in love with the unique and living master of art and spectacle for kids and grown adults known as "La Compagnie Donin" / "Le Manège en chanteur" / Donin Spectacle. This is a masterpiece live show kids and their parents enjoy every day from April to November every morning in Ars-en-Ré. See also Spectacle Donin
  • 🎧 The Bombo Podcast (food, art, design, creators) is worth listening to for french speaking audience and deserves that I speak about it especially if you prefer to listen to people interesting stories while relaxing rather than the usual "learn something new with this podcast".
  • 👚 I've ordered a t-shirt that displays the cover of my favorite album of my favorite Metal band : Killing Season by Death Angel. I couldn't find it anywhere in Europe so I had to order from the U.S.A. 🇺🇸, and because of the trouble I had to order it a second time. This was such a mess I felt obligated to tell about it at The Shipping Never Ships. I've now ordered from an alternative online store at Album Cover Stickers - Death Angel Killing Season
  • 🎧️ I'm replacing my Spotify with Navidrome (self hosted) which can also scrobble to my Last.fm profile. I'm close to delete my Spotify account because after removing all the non necessary songs from their library I'm left with only one album (Killing Season) from one band (Death Angel).
  • 💽 I've bought a CD music player from KLIM on Amazon.

💼 Work

  • Freelancer and co-owner of Zoemp SRL with my partner since April 2022.
  • 👨🏻‍🚒 DevOps / SRE at Ibanity In Brussels, Belgium since Winter 2023.
  • Despite my colleagues work from home 4/5 days, I continue to go to the office, it's a preference, I've already covered that in the past. Anyway my partner asked what if I could set a nice home office, my main concern is probably
    • 1) Costs!
    • 2) I don't want something that makes my back suffer.
    • 3) I shall probably write a blog post soon about the other points 😆...

🩺 Health and Sport and Well being

  • 😪 Without enough sleep, I'm a mess. And screens lights make it very difficult to find sleep.
  • 🤔 I've been lately diagnosed with Autism, at the age of 37. That's not changing my life, but it helps to understand a few things. A lot of people are concerned with the autism spectrum disorder and it's not always obvious for them, it wasn't for me neither and I keep educating myself on this topic. I recommend this good blog Autistic As Fxxk full of resources.
  • 🧗🏻I've stopped climbing since June 2023, after I broke my leg. For reasons (anxiety, laziness, habits) I struggle to go back. Since April 2024 I'm climbing again, mostly in a church in Brussels).
  • 🚶🏻I walk and relax and chill rather than running. See also Marcher la vie : Un art tranquille du bonheur.
  • 🥵 I believe that any sport should first be relaxing and safe, and suffering is not a goal. We have nothing to prove ourselves and extreme sports are, think again, extreme.
  • 🤫 I like to isolate myself from external noise and energy draining environments and people, I need time, quiet, peace, calm and simple things. Ô, rather, I need a fewer things. I like to remove, destroy, throw away things that do not cause me stress to have them.
  • 🤯 Paperwork/administrative work drains my energy. Instead I like to eliminate, minify, simplify. But there is so much paperwork beyond what I can manage it's something I struggle still with as freelancer.

Projects

  • 👨🏻‍💻 I'm coding a script to save time with the accounting/freelance paperwork. Thanks to Ponto's API (https://myponto.com) I could manage to obtain complete real-time bank accounts transaction in only a few minutes of scripting. Then, I needed also to extract my credit cards transactions which I retrieve monthly in PDF format, and I wrote a script for that too. With a few more steps (OCR of my scanned documents) I can likely manage to automate missing documents notifications, issues detection, and matching of transactions with documents. See also /ideas.
  • 👨‍💻 I'm coding a little game using Pygame and ChatGPT as an experimental helper requiring too much micromanagement yet it's teaching me about prompting skills.
  • 🇫🇷 I want to also propose this blog in French.
  • 🤖 I'm abusing ChatGPT to write user-scripts and make my user experience smooth on some websites. I must say it's often quicker than me at least for very simple tasks wereas I would overthink the implementation details.
  • 💿️ I've a huge collection of CDs that I didn't hear in a long time and I've recently bought a portable CD Player from KLIM on Amazon.
  • I'm now sharing my blog posts and project ideas in Ideas.

Novels / Essays

  • I like the idea of anti library, also named Tsundoku (積ん読?). TLDR unread books are useful as a messy and inspiring pile 📚️📚️📚️.
  • 📖 👁️‍🗨️ I'm deep into T2 of Red Rising saga by Pierce Brown, which is the story of Darrow, a rebel forged by tragedy, battling to lead his oppressed people to freedom.
  • 📔 I recommend reading La Horde du Contrevent and La Zone du Dehors by Alain Damasio.
  • 📚️ Wanna read some work of Derek Sivers or maybe Douglas Rushkoff or Tim Ferris
    • Or maybe I should just relax instead and keep watching movies.
    • Or let go of things and to-dos and goals for a while.

  • 🇺🇲 I've just watched Garfield with the little one. It was his first time at the Movie Theater, in UGC De Brouckère (Brussels), the experience of watching a movie together was worth it, way better than the movie itself 😀.
